Coffee First (Sterling Heights)
Coffee First feels like a neighborhood café first and foremost. The space is small, bright, and a little lively, with more of a diner energy than a traditional coffee shop. Not in a bad way. It feels familiar and approachable, like a place people stop into as part of their day rather than a destination they plan around.
I ordered a 16 oz Butter Caramel Latte, which cost $6. The drink was solid and enjoyable, exactly what I was hoping for. Nothing surprising, nothing disappointing.
Seating is limited. There are three small tables for sitting, working, or talking with friends, along with a counter where you can sit and chat with the baristas. There is also seating along a large picture window, which helps keep the space feeling open. Outside, there are a few tables that would be nice on a warm day, though they are close enough to the parking lot that I would not feel especially comfortable lingering there.
Everything about Coffee First feels friendly and familiar, but it is not particularly designed for staying a long time. It works well as a quick stop during errands or as a brief place to meet someone.
Would I stay for a second cup?
No. It was nice, but it was not especially comfortable or loungy. Even if I were working on something, I would likely be at the counter. I enjoyed being there, just not enough to settle in for another cup.
