The Hot Spot (Sterling Heights)
The Hot Spot in Sterling Heights has a very specific identity, and it is not subtle about it. The overall aesthetic leans heavily into a boudoir style. The barista was dressed in lingerie, and there are risqué images on the walls. At the same time, the space itself is bright and open, with large windows on two walls. It does not feel like it is trying to hide what it is or apologize for it, which I actually respect.
The color scheme is surprisingly playful and almost candy-like. It reminded me of Good and Plenty candy more than anything dark or moody. Despite the adult theme, the place is well lit, clean, and visually intentional.
I ordered a vanilla caramel latte, which cost $6. The price felt reasonable, and the drink itself was pretty good. The coffee held up fine on its own. The staff was also very friendly, which helped keep the experience from feeling awkward or transactional.
The music was heavier, leaning into hard rock, which fit the grown-up feel of the space. Seating was mostly small, round tables meant for two or three people. There were two lounge chairs near the front, but they felt out of place and did not really match the rest of the room.
Would I stay for a second cup?
No. Even though the place is bright, the coffee is decent, and the staff is friendly, the overall atmosphere is not what I look for in a coffee shop. The risqué decor and attire paired with the harder music does not align with the kind of space where I want to linger.
