Drifter Coffee (Ferndale)
Drifter Coffee is a very small indoor space, though it looks like outdoor seating is available during warmer weather. Inside, the footprint is tight, with limited room to sit, but the place still makes a strong impression.
I ordered a rosemary and thyme latte, which cost $6. It was a unique choice, but genuinely tasty. The kind of drink that stands out without feeling gimmicky.
The space itself feels like the opposite of a cookie-cutter coffee shop. It comes across more like something owned and run by a group of art school students. The decor is colorful, the atmosphere is creative, and the staff is very friendly. There isn’t much indoor seating, and what is available isn’t especially comfortable, which makes this more of a stop-and-grab-a-coffee kind of place than a spot to settle in.
Would I stay for a second cup?
Not today. The indoor space is too limited for lingering. That said, if the weather were nice, I could see myself sitting outside with a second latte, watching people come and go.
